I didn’t have too much trouble setting up my blog and I found the process quite easy. The only times I became frustrated was due to my own error because I was typing in my password incorrectly. This is something that I often do so I really shouldn’t be surprised.
When I saw in the syllabus that we would need to set up and use a blog throughout this course I was quite intimidated because this is not something I have ever done before. I am not the most confident in my tech skills, however I am very excited to learn more and increase my skills so my future students won’t laugh at me too much for my technological ineptitude.
I think that using a blog for future classrooms is a great idea as it gives students freedom to create something that’s entirely their own while detailing their learning. I can definitely see intermediate/middle school age students enjoying this for ongoing projects that they can work on independently in class.

Hello, Lucy.
I love your choice of picture at the beginning of this post; it seems a fitting theme for beginning an exploration of an area that is new to you. I wonder if you might have attributed it, however. It may not have required it, but your next picture (not visible in this blog post, but on the continuous view on your main page) is conspicuously attributed, and it caused me to look back at the previous picture and scan it for text. I did that myself with my first reflection document–attributing one picture but not the other–and if feels unbalanced now.
You have a much more positive attitude than I do when it comes to this course’s content; I’m sure it will serve you well. I do agree that a (highly private) classroom blog might be a useful tool, however.
See you in class,
– Emmanuel

Hi Lucy,
I agree with you that having students set up a blog might be fun and engaging for them. As you mentioned, I am happy we have this course because it’s important to add tech tools to our teaching, but also because it seems like these days children are born knowing all about technology, I nanny for a 2-year-old kid and he knows how to take pictures and play videos. It’s crazy!
I am looking forward to reading your future posts 🙂

Hi Lucy,
That’s great you had a good experience setting up the technology. I found it funny when you said you didn’t want your future students to laugh at your technology skills, I feel like I can relate to that. I liked that you connected this assignment to your future teaching.
